“What have you learned about yourself in the last year?” I shouldn’ t be afraid of who I am…
My dear friend Nikita was entering her 35th year of life and asked me to help capture her vision for what this milestone means to her - what she has been reflecting on, what she has learned, what she is still looking forward to, and what she feels in her skin as a womxn. To be behind the lens and also the computer to bring her vision to life in all the different forms was a joy for me, especially because I have been through many different stages of life with her and am grateful for her friendship as my sister friend.
Not all mistakes are bad, but they can be freeing.
With this project, I wanted to capture cool and warm tones when editing. Nikita also specifically asked for both color and B&W versions. So you’ll see duplicates on this page of the same photos.
Behind the scenes, Nikita’s other dear friends Teah & Arielle were also on set to assist with make-up, hair, styling, the space, and everything in-between. Including the champagne. And the interview.
